Parent Forum Monday, May 20, at Kane School
As the district begins its process to identify Kane’s next principal, we are seeking input from our Kane families as to the characteristics that person should possess to best serve the students and families of Kane School.

Please join us at Kane at 7 p.m. Monday, May 20, for a parent forum regarding the principal search. In addition to discussing characteristics to look for in candidates, we will share the timeline and process we will use to select the new principal.

Should you not be able to attend Monday’s forum, please e-mail Instructional Leadership Director Gabby Abrams at gabrams@mps-edu.org with your thoughts and/or suggestions.

Parents: On Wednesday, Dec. 19, students grades 1-4 received their first trimester report cards. These report cards differ from those in the past; the new report cards are standards based, reflecting the Common Core standards embedded in the district’s new curriculum. Feedback on the new report cards will be collected throughout the year to identify and develop revisions as needed. To access a parent pamphlet on the new standards-based report cards, click:  English - Portuguese - Spanish. To access a glossary of terms and phrases, click: EnglishPortugueseSpanish.

Freedom Flag
On Nov. 5, the students and staff at Kane Elementary gathered in the cafeteria for a very special presentation. In recognition and gratitude for Kane’s care packages and letters to military personnel stationed overseas, the school was presented with a flag that on June 21 was flown over the Joint Operations Center in Bagram, Afghanistan, as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. Below are some highlights of the presentation.
